FED:Aust should speak out on Burma poll

Amnesty International has called on Australia to use its regional influence to press
Burma for a free and fair election.

The call comes after country's ruling military junta announced today that the country's
first election in 20 years will be held on November 7.

Amnesty is concerned because the regime has detained more than two-thousand political
prisoners .. including the leader of the main opposition party AUNG SAN SUU KYI.
