Team roping event to benefit

A benefit team roping event for Theresa Wilson will be held atnoon Saturday at the St. Joseph Stockyards.
Cost to enter the event is $15. Donations will be accepted forspectators. In case of rain the event will be held the followingSaturday, April 29.

City Council retreat
open to public
The St. Joseph City Council will hold a "retreat" Saturday. Thesession is open to the public and will allow council members to getacquainted with each other, select committees and possibly discusscity issues. The retreat is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at theStoney Creek Inn, 1201 N. Woodbine Road.
Historical Society to host
event on family genealogy
The Holt County Historical Society's Genealogy and Family HistoryFair will feature a presentation by Sarah Waugh about how to searchfor family geneaology.

Motorcycle awareness rides
will rev through state
CHILLICOTHE, Mo. - Two motorcycle awareness rides will take placeSaturday in northern Missouri.
One ride begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Pizza Hut in Carrollton andends in Brookfield at approximately 5 p.m. Another begins at 9:30a.m. in Cameron and will visit Maysville, Pattonsburg, Bethany,Albany, Stanberry, King City, Savannah and will end in St. Joseph.
The rides are being organized by Freedom of Road Riders Local 8 ofChillicothe and Freedom of Road Riders Local 41 of Cameron.
This is the fifth year of the ride and the first time the ride issanctioned as a statewide ride.
The 15 to 20 minute stops in each town will be to gather aproclamation from officials noting May as "Motorcycle AwarenessMonth," which will be taken on to Jefferson City Tuesday forpresentation to the governor's office on behalf of the Road Ridersand Missouri motorcyclists.
All motorcyclists are welcome to join at any location and ride asmuch as they wish. Lunch stops are planned in Princeton and Bethany.
